What do you like and why? When did you get into what you like?

In terms of forum software, it depends on whether I am going for premium or open-source. For premium, I prefer Xenforo but for open source, I prefer MyBB. I love how Xenforo offers so many options out of the box without the need for addons at first, and MyBB is similar to Xenforo but free.
When it comes to blog software, I would have to say WordPress, with the extensive plugins it has and how much you can do from installation, I have never needed to look elsewhere.

I like all self-installed popular forum software but after 2018 maybe I've gotten only into XenForo and lately only phpBB.
And as far as blogs are concerned, I've only used WordPress, but I've considered Bob's AMS for XF.

Bob's AMS is one I have been looking at as well, it's a great addon for Xenforo if you are looking to offer articles on your forum

I used to enjoy using vBulletin. I currently enjoy using XenForo, Woltlab, and Discourse.

How would you compare them to each other?
