How long did it take before you could smoothly switch between chords?

Switching between chords has to be one of the most difficult things when it comes to playing guitar, and I know from those whom I have spoken to who play guitar how difficult they found it at first.

How long did it take you before you could switch between chords smoothly? Have you managed to perfect switching between chords or do you still need some practice?

I can't remember really. It was in my middle school days. Well, practice will bring it about. I mean, no pain, no gain.
