I used phpBB quite a long time ago now, it was the first forum software I used and I always remember having issues because when you added mods, you would have to make so many edits to templates and it would break the forum.Jason wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 8:07 pmI'm using phpBB and WordPress.Shortie wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 4:34 pm I would say I am somewhat into web development. How do you feel phpBB is primitive?Bill wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 9:49 pm I own 1 forum right now. I use to use PHPBB and it was great. But i have outgrown that forum software.
How could it be improved? I'd like to try SMF one day again. I like about all forum software.B.F.G wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 11:12 pm I use smf, simple machine forums. For the simple reason it’s so easy to use but the permission on making groups gets a bit complex.
Mods are pretty much installed right into the "ext" directory and so is not hard.Shortie wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 4:42 pmI used phpBB quite a long time ago now, it was the first forum software I used and I always remember having issues because when you added mods, you would have to make so many edits to templates and it would break the forum.Jason wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 8:07 pmI'm using phpBB and WordPress.Shortie wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 4:34 pm I would say I am somewhat into web development. I may have to check it out again and see how much it has changed over the years from what I remember.Jason wrote: Wed Jun 11, 2025 12:28 amHow do you feel phpBB is primitive?Bill wrote: Tue Jun 10, 2025 9:49 pm I own 1 forum right now.
